Greece is a beautiful country in the southeast of Europe whose mainland juts out into the Mediterranean and has over 2000 islands scattered off its rugged coastline (the longest in the Med). Its long and interesting history is evident across the country through its many ancient temples and monuments including the world-famous Parthenon Temple atop the stunning Acropolis in the centre of the capital city, Athens. A visit to the area in the evening to see the temple all lit up is a must-do.

While the mainland has many attractions for tourists, the Greek Islands are high on many people’s bucket lists around the world due to the high number of stunning islands to visit, including Santorini and Mykonos in the Ionian and Aegean Seas respectively. Tourists flock to Santorini’s northern town of Oia which sits high above dramatic cliffs to watch the stunning sunset over the island’s caldera, the flooded volcanic crater formed after a massive eruption 3500 years ago that left shimmering black-sand beaches and burgundy-hued 1000ft cliffs that rise majestically out of the sea. Mykonos is a more typical island in the region with golden-sand beaches, turquoise water, and vibrant white and blue buildings that stand out beautifully against the dusty earthy tones of the arid landscape. From party beaches to spa retreats, these paradise islands have something for everyone.
